On a Sunday early in February of 2002, I was bored.  I went down to my buddy Luke's to see if he wanted to go for a ride.  We ended up driving to the lakeshore to do a little shopping.  I thought it might be fun to find a little HobieCat to play around with in the Spring.  Well one thing led to another and we found ourselves at a couple of powerboat brokerages.  We found that we could crawl all over the boats and get inside and check them out.  I was amazed at how affordable (naive) these boats all seemed to be.  There were several that caught my eye, this one wasn't really one of them.  Luke instantly saw the potential that I was obviously missing.  It looked so tired to me.  The only thing the ol' Marinette had that intrigued me was the interior size.  Since I am 6'4" that was kind of a big deal.  I could actually stand up in the galley.  Over the next couple of days, Luke convinced me to "try it".  Luke and I made a deal.  I would cover the financial end of things but he would provide a lot of the elbow grease.  Before you knew it...we were boaters.  And I was the proud owner of Mixed Emotions a 1976 32' Marinette.  To see more pics of before and after go to the gallery.
